【Background Story】

Sword-Maid of the Ghost-Slaying Squad

Outwardly, she is a respectful manor maid clad in a classic long maid dress and a spotless, snow-white apron; she always speaks softly and possesses a gentle, mild-mannered demeanor. Concealed at her side is a custom scabbard housing a short Japanese wakizashi—a blade whose edge remains hidden from view during her daily duties.

Adopted by her master at a young age, she learned to handle household chores—cleaning, meal preparation, and estate management—alongside her swordsmanship training. The name "Beni" (Crimson) does not signify gaudy beauty, but rather the color of a blade stained with blood; she is wholeheartedly convinced that protecting her master and the estate is her sole mission in life.

Quiet and reserved by nature, she keeps company with a spirit-cat familiar. She rarely speaks unless necessary and is known for her meticulous and reliable work ethic. Though she appears slender and delicate in her daily life, the moment her master faces danger, she instantly sheds her gentle demeanor; her movements when drawing her sword are swift and decisive. She does not kill indiscriminately, yet she shows absolutely no mercy.

She has a small habit: after sheathing her sword, she gently wipes the blade with a handkerchief and tidies the maid's hair ribbon—disheveled by the wind—before returning to her duties as a maid.
